The Coach Kit for teams aged 12–17
Clutch Mind is a 6-week confidence program your coaches run themselves: a 10-minute team talk and one pressure drill a week. Players stop holding back, bounce back from mistakes, and play in games the way they play in practice.
Any sport · No sport psych background needed · Kickoff call and weekly coach emails included
Teams train skills, fitness and tactics for hours every week, and confidence for zero. Then the big game comes and the team you see at practice doesn't show up. Confidence is a skill, and it can be trained the same way.
"We look great at practice, then go flat in games."
The skills are there, but nerves take over when it counts.
"One goal against and heads drop."
A single mistake spreads through the team and the next ten minutes go with it.
"Nobody wants the ball when it's close."
Players play safe, pass it off and hide, instead of taking the chance they'd take in training.
How it works
Most mental training stops at talking. In Clutch Mind, players practice confidence while the pressure is real, at your normal practice, with no extra sessions.
01
10-minute team talk
Early in the week, the coach reads from that week's coach card. Word-for-word script, questions to ask, and what to listen for.
02
One pressure rep
At one practice, a game with a score, a clock and stakes, where players use the week's skill for real. It replaces a drill you'd already run.
03
A cue word all week
Each week has a one-word cue, like "Reset" or "Take it", that coaches and teammates use in practice and games. Players get a card to keep.
Parents get a short ready-to-send email each week: what their athlete is learning, one thing to say, and one thing to avoid.

The 6 weeks
Each week builds on the last. Players keep a confidence bank the whole way through, and finish with their own game-day plan.
Week 1
Know your pressure
What shakes confidence, when it happens, and spotting the first warning sign.
Cue: Notice it
Team challenge: Catch It Count
Week 2
Build your confidence bank
Confidence comes from proof, not feelings. Players start collecting theirs.
Cue: Bank it
Team challenge: 50 Deposits
Week 3
Talk like a teammate
Swapping "don't mess up" for short phrases that back yourself and each other.
Cue: Flip it
Team challenge: No "Don't" Week
Week 4
Take the shot
Acting even when scared, because brave attempts build confidence, hit or miss.
Cue: Take it
Team challenge: Brave Board
Week 5
Mistakes don't define you
A 5-second reset, and separating one bad play from who you are.
Cue: Reset
Team challenge: Reset Streak
Week 6
Your game-day plan
Breathing, a pre-game routine and their confidence bank in one plan they keep.
Cue: Their own word
Team challenge: Plan in the Bag
Inside a week
About 20 minutes of the coach's week, most of it inside practice you'd already run.
Monday
Send the parent email, hand out player cards, put the poster up
Practice 1
10-minute team talk: what pressure does to you, and spotting your first warning sign
Practice 2
The Freeze scrimmage: play stops after big moments so players catch their nerves in real time
All week
Players do the 2-minute Notice It check-in and tap their chest when they catch their sign
Coach support
A kit only works if it gets used. So every team gets a person behind it, not just a PDF.
20-minute kickoff call
Before week 1, we walk through the kit together and plan it around your schedule.
A short email every week
The one thing to focus on that week, and a check-in halfway through.
Questions any time
Email Terell directly. A real reply, usually the same day.
Results you can show
Start and end check-ins give you a before-and-after summary for parents and your club.
Why I created Clutch Mind
I'm Terell. I played soccer my whole childhood, and I had the skill. But I lost my confidence. I started holding back, playing safe, hoping the ball wouldn't come to me, and at 15 I quit. Today I have the confidence and the skill, but the opportunities I had back then, including a real shot at going pro, are gone.
For the past two years I've worked with young people every week, from kids to teens aged 15 to 17, teaching, coaching and mentoring. I keep seeing the same thing: kids with real talent holding back because they've stopped believing in it. Clutch Mind gives coaches a simple way to build that confidence with their whole team, while the door is still open.

What ages is it for?
Teams with players aged 12 to 17: club, travel, academy or school.
Does it work for our sport?
Yes. The skills work in any team sport, and the pressure reps are built on small-sided games you can set up in soccer, basketball, volleyball, hockey and more.
How much practice time does it take?
A 10-minute team talk once a week, and one pressure rep that replaces a drill you'd already run. About 20 minutes a week in total.
Do coaches need any training?
No. Every week has a word-for-word talk script and a ready-made drill, and you get a kickoff call and weekly emails to keep you on track.
How do we get the kit?
It's a printable PDF, emailed to you as soon as you're accepted or purchase. Print one coach set, one poster and a player card for each player each week.
How does the founding club offer work?
This winter a small number of clubs run the full kit free, with all the coach support, in exchange for using the check-ins and giving honest feedback. Spots are limited.
Who is behind Clutch Mind?
Terell Söderström, who has spent the past two years working with young people every week, teaching, coaching and mentoring. Fuel nutrition plans are created by a nutrition specialist with a bachelor's and master's in nutrition.
Do you cover nutrition?
Yes, through Fuel, a $149 add-on. The coach fills in a short form and our nutrition specialist sends back a written plan for the team: game day, tournaments, snacks and a parent handout. It's general sports nutrition for the team, never weight or diet goals.
Is this therapy?
No. Clutch Mind teaches performance skills like focus, routines and confidence. If a player is really struggling, please point their family to a doctor or counselor.
